“Fully funded fellowship program focusing on confronting the trend of disinformation in the news media. Pennsylvania Capitol Reporters internship
The internship program, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Legislative Correspondents’ Association, offers two college students the opportunity to work in the newsroom at the Pennsylvania state Capitol in Harrisburg. The 12-week program consists of rotations at ABC27, The Allentown Morning Call, Capitolwire.com, LNP Media Group, Pennlive/Patriot-News, and The Philadelphia Inquirer and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “Interns will assist reporters covering the state budget and report on committee hearings and other political and policy stories in a fast-paced news environment. Interns are expected to pitch their own ideas as well as take assignments on a variety of subjects that arise in the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government. Depending on assignment, interns may be required to shoot videos and photos with their phones or other equipment.”

Virginia Media – which includes The Virginian-Pilot (Norfolk), The Daily Press (Newport News), the Virginia Gazette (Williamsburg), Style Weekly (Richmond) and several community publications stretching from Richmond to the Outer Banks of North Carolina – offers internships throughout the year in its newsrooms in reporting; copy editing; videography and photography; and web and social media producing. Interns are :assigned an editor and will participate in team meetings and brown bag programs on topical subjects. Past sessions have included journalism values, self-editing, how to read a financial report, investigative reporting and social media use.”

Chicago Public Media doesn’t offer summer-only internships but it does offer six-month internships in production and reporting to those interested in public radio.
