In conflicts past, Western journalists could move almost invisibly from one side to the other to get the real story. But veteran war correspondents say that is no longer the case; journalists are increasingly becoming targets in hostile environments. To better arm themselves in the hot zones of today, the Committee to Protect Journalists has put together a safety handbook titled “On Assignment: Covering Conflict Safely.”
